I currently have an iChat server running on MAC OS X and we are in the process of migrating from Open Directory to Active Directory. I was researching repointing iChat from OD to AD when I came across OpenFire and am interested in possible setting this up instead. I’m still reading up on it, but my main question is with the AD integration, can we set it up so that each user’s buddy list automatically populates everyone in AD? Thank you
Yes. It is possible to pull users and groups from AD. Then you should be able to find groups in Openfire Admin Console and enable sharing for them, so they automatically show up in buddy lists.
