AdminConsolePlugin NullPointerException at start

I installed 4.0.2 (using HotSpot JDK 1.8.0_91 on Ubuntu 14.04, AMD64) over an older rather vanilla OpenFire installation (copied only the embedded-db folder), now it won’t start properly, throwing this exception:

org.jivesoftware.openfire.container.AdminConsolePlugin - An exception occurred while trying to make available the admin console via HTTPS.
        at org.jivesoftware.openfire.container.AdminConsolePlugin.startup(
        at org.jivesoftware.openfire.container.AdminConsolePlugin.initializePlugin(
        at org.jivesoftware.openfire.container.PluginManager.loadPlugin(
        at org.jivesoftware.openfire.container.PluginManager.access$300(
        at org.jivesoftware.openfire.container.PluginManager$
        at java.util.concurrent.Executors$

…this happens even if I put “-1” in openfire.xml.

Any hints?

Turns out for some reason OpenFire was in first time setup mode and waited for configuration at http://localhost:9090/ . It’d be nice to have a BIG notice for that in the logs (plus fixing the misleading NPE).
