Alternate solution to SSL for secured connections?

I wanted to ask if Openfire supports any other encrypting mechanisms besides SSL.

That’s a strange question. What are you trying to achieve? Which problem do you want to solve?

Haha! None exactly… it was just a question that was redirected to me. They just wanna know what encryption solutions openfire supports.

For stream encryption openfire supports just SSL/TLS, like all other XMPP servers. At least I’ve never heard of an server providing an alternative encryption mechanisms. OpenPG comes to my mind, but I don’t even know if there is a XEP for that.
