Appeared online

Hi

i’ve been using openfire for almost 5 Years and i always update when new release version

currently i am using 3.9.3 running in centos

my problem is about users appeared online even they are sign out or the desktop/laptop are shutdown

we are using PIDGIN software.

thanks in advance

Users have been reporting issues like this with 3.9.3 and Pidgin. But it only happens when you do not specify a resource to pidgin. A workaround is to modify your pidgin client configuration and manually set a resource for the account.

I am experiencing a similar problem, but users are appearing as offline. I’ve checked and everyone seems to have a resource set.

Hi

Thanks for your reply

if the workaround is to manually set a resource to the client

when i checked the client side resource was blank

question: How do i get the resource ID or code?

Im not sure, right click the the user account from the pidgin then “Get Info”

output:

Resource: 621600ee

Priority: 0

Status: Away: I’m not here right now

Resource: 8b5faf3f

Resource: d3a0b199

so is this a resource id so that i can copy and paste it to the pidgin client?

thanks

When you do not specify a resource for Pidgin to use within the account settings (Accounts -> Manage Accounts), it will randomly generate one. This field is free form and you can set it to most whatever you want. I set mine to ‘Laptop’ when I run pidgin on my laptop, for example.
