I have a compliance need to archive to email. Is there a plugin that would archive messages and place them into an email that could be sent to an email address on a server. The end result would be that the chat sessions could be archived by persion on the exchange server. Similar to the way gtalk works with gmail. Seems like the current plugin’s get really close but never quite get there. What are my options?
Not sure what plugin you are talking about getting close, but as far as i know, there is no such plugin for archiving to email (especially to Exchange).

I said close because there are monitoring and archiving plugins but none that send to exchange. So they are almost there just not yet. I would be simple enough to create a text log file and email it on a schedule. The data is already there it just needs to be sent to an email address.

It’s nice to see there are others that want/need this functionality. I was starting to think I was the only one. Maybe we will get luck and a dev would be willing to pick this up.
I know that Barracuda offers an IM appliance which is marked EOL, http://www.barraguard.com/320.asp
but perhaps the data flow type could be used to pump the messages from openfire into an appliance.
Unless you find your own dev. There are not many devs here and they are usually busy with other things.
