Asterisk IM Plugin for Openfire 4.6.3

Good morning all,
Currently in internship, my project is to set up a new telephone service in my host company. I use Asterisk as a phone server and Linphone as a client. My company wants to run an XMPP server for chat and presence functions.

I installed Openfire 4.6.3 and I was surprised that the asterisk plugin no longer exists for this version. I looked on the forum that the plugin is still in development since 2020.
Could you please tell me which most resent version of Openfire with the Asterisk IM plugin could I integrate into my Asterisk server.
Thank you.

Although we did try to revive the Asterisk plugin last year, that effort sadly failed. We do have some new development in the pipeline though! Hopefully, we’ll be able to share more on that soon.

Hi Guus.
I am really very pleased with how the openfire server works and what it offers. I use the latest version 4.6.4. I wanted to ask if a new asterisk plugin might have come out. I really need it. If there is still no new plugin, please tell me which latest version of the openfire server works with the latest asterisk plugin.

Based on the existing code, which I’ve only tested against two different servers (that probably aren’t representative), I’ve drafted a new release numbered 2.0.0. You can download the artifacts at https://github.com/igniterealtime/asterisk-im/releases/tag/release-2.0.0

I’d be very interested in receiving feedback on this release. I have very limited experience with Asterisk, so all help is welcome.

Hello Guus. First let me thank you for your quick response. Also, I just saw that a new version of the openfire server 4.7.0 beta came out. I just installed and imported two servers (4.7.0 beta) via hazelcast 2.6.0 and it works for now. Also, the asterisk plugin now opens the configuration form. I’ll try to connect to freepbx soon so I’ll let you know. Thanks again.
