Calendar plugin

Hi everybody!

I found an article about this subject : http://www.igniterealtime.org/forum/thread.jspa?messageID=111790&#111790,

but I don’'t know if there are news about it (I don"t think so)

I’'m interested in a plugin that provides a calendar for every user of Spark. The goal of this calendar is to check the disponibility of every participant, to find the best hour to plan a meeting for exemple. One other feature of this plugin can be to change the status of every user who has to be in a meeting (or other)

The calendar will provide other ‘‘classic’’ features (prevent 5 minutes before a planed action, …)

My problems are :

  • I think there are some new XEP to provide, because it will be nice to communicate with any jabber client, and for that, we need protocols

  • Maybe some new status?

  • I’'m not so good in dev, so I need HELP…

Is it possible?

How to start? (dev, XEP, both)

Is anybody is interested in and want to help me?

regards

Deamonyx

This is exactly what I want to do, but I can’‘t seem to figure out how to do it. At work we currently use a program called “scotland yard”. I don’‘t know if you’‘re familiar with it, but it basicly allows you to keep track of where your fellow employees are. You get to work in the morning (8 am for me) sign onto scotland yard, and select your present status. If you have to goto a meeting, You select “meeting”. If you are at your desk, you select “At My Desk”. The trouble with scotland yard is that it’‘s old, It’‘s too specialized, It’‘s full bugs and errors, It’‘s ugly as all hell, and it drives me crazy at work when I have to repair it over and over again. Now that I’‘m implimenting a chat client. I’'m finding that there is less and less a need for this program when “away messages” are available to us.

The only thing i would like to add is:

  • a way to create new permanant status’’ on each users account.

  • a schedualing calandar where people can schedule times for their status to change.

  • a way for admin to forcably change that status.

Alright, I have been looking into this like crazy. I think that the next big step in spark is to have some sort of server based calandar. I have thought about all the things I would like a calandar to do, and here is what i have come up with.

You should have a server based calandar/scheduler built into spark. The scheduler can set your presence for you. In a buisness This would be great. Anyways. I have developed some graphics to show you what I think should be done. I’'m going to purcahse a few java books to help me out, but any pionters would be appriciated.

Alright, here it goes:

This is what I visualize.

What would be even better is integration into commercial/open source calendaring options (Exchange).

Hi All,

I am wondering if there is something on the table already…

Did someone develop such Calendar Plugin? It would be very useful…
