Can delete user admin (bug?)

My boss accidentally deleted the user admin from our JM installation. The result is that noone can log into the admin console. Changing to false does not remedy this as the JM encounters an “unexpected error” in the step of assigning a password (last step in the setup).

I had to copy a backup of the database to fix it.

Request: Make the admin account undeletable i.e. builtin

Edit: some suggestions:

  • When is set to false, create the user admin with password admin if he doesn’'t exist.

  • When deleting the user with administrative privileges, automatically give those privilieges to the next user and inform through message (or present a choice).

You could create the admin user directly to the DB and then log in the admin console.

Or you could change the conf/jive-messenger.xml to allow another user besides admin to log.

regards,

Rodrigo.

i have deleted Admin accidentically once And then i have requested it to be hidden in Users list But after all i have decided that i just need to be more careful and dont let any Boss to play with Admin Console.

Maybe a builtin admin is not a bad idea, though there is a workaround described above.

Ah, thanks mrodrigom!

Maybe this should go in the FAQ.

Thanks all!
