Can't start openfire as a service

Hello all,

I am trying to start openfire as a service: /etc/init.d/openfire start

However, all it says is starting openfire. It doesn’t start or even gives me the correct status. I checked /etc/sysconfig/openfire and it all seems to be set to default.

The only way to start the script is to login to shell and execute* /opt/openfire/bin/openfire.sh*

The problem with the above is that I need to keep a shell window open somewhere. I can’t run it as a cron as it tends to start openfire all the time and overloads the CPU.

I’m using old openfired daemon. It was working for me with Jive Messenger, Wildfire and now with Openfire. Maybe it can be useful to you.

Hi,

I did post some start sccripts a year ago {document:id=1034}. You need to tweak them before you can use them but then they work fine.
