it seems as if your uid hasn´t enough rights to start the server. Sorry, I am no Mac crack, but the error message “Permission denied” looks as if you should be administrator/root/wheel.

You should have two options:

  1. Make the file executable and start it.

chmod u+x openfire.sh

./openfire.sh

  1. Start a new shell and execute it there

sh ./openfire.sh
