We are working on solution for Telepathology business. We want our solution to facilitate collaboration among the pathologist . The basic requirements are -

Enables image sharing over the web and is ideally suited for distributed teams to access, view and share imaging work.

Facilitates second opinions, distance learning, peer review, internet consultation and virtual tumor board.
The requirements are that the image quality which is shared should be of highest quality so that it does not lead to wrong diagnosis. Also the authentication of participating paries should be through our application . We intend to make our solution based on Jboss and looking for a collaboration solution which could integrate with our solution as a service.
I am new to this and looking to get information on the softwares which could help.
Please let me know how does Openfire help with this requirement , and do we have to develop such solution from scratch or we can use already existing solution which can plug with Jboss.
