Trying to use command line to initiate chat session with a specific user. The problem I have is that if Spark is running another instance of Spark starts and you have to login all over again, and the previous instance of Spark is terminated. Can you create a shortcut to start a chat session that will use the existing Spark session?

Imho it makes nearly no difference if your browser opens a program for xmpp: URI’'s or you do this manually.
I have the same issue, there is a request here for it as well
Any updates on this. Really need this one to work, so we can use spark with our intranet.
