Disable "Contact List Group Sharing" with Openfire connector

When using the Openfire connector in SBS 4.5, our employees love the IM, but really don’t seem to care for the Contact List Group Sharing.

Everyone would rather manage their own groups in the client without having this clutter come in. For Example, Ping Pong, Classifieds and Softball are all groups I’m subscribed to in SBS, but I don’t necessarily need all of the members of these groups in my buddy list, nor do I even want those groups showing up. I don’t need one person showing up 4 times in my buddy list, once in my custom list is enough. I’ve tried to delete the groups in my client, but they just come back when I reconnect. And I also cannot disable the group sharing in the Openfire admin.

Is there any system property or backdoor I can use to disable this?

Hey, Till date I have not received any reply on this. All I could do was convince my users that a prebuilt list (aka Shared Group) will be always available and updated with new users. and if they wish to have custom grouping (aka non shraed groups), they create them and copy their contacts (and they canot move, edit or change the shared groups any time). 95% users are happy with this (as they dont need to update their contacts)…

Btw we have a small setup of only 90 Employees so… this worked for me… bigger organisations can not…
