I have enabled “Show time in chat window” (Spark, Preferences) and the offline messages are displayed with a time stamp. They are displayed like “[6:19 PM] user: (Offline) message_text_goes_here” so even without timestamp one should be able to see that it was an offline message.

does that work for clients other than Spark?
Dunno, as far as I know the server sends the timestamp within the message (no matter which client is used), so every client should be able to display the timestamp.
