Feature Request: Show CODE in new window/popup button

Hi,

one may want to look at http://www.jivesoftware.org/community/thread.jspa?threadID=21066 and try to read the stack trace I did post - it’'s not impossible but tricky. Could one please add a button to show it in another window?

LG

LG,

Actually, what I think might be better is a macro that allows you to

‘‘hide’’ some/all of the content inside of it. The macro would generate a

link that would allow the user to view the full content by autoexpanding

the hidden content. Do you think that would suffice?

Hi Bruce,

expanding the code could break the whole design of the page. That’'s way I did request a new window but if there is another way to display the whole code without or just little scrollbars it should be fine.

Hey Bruce,

Maybe something like a floating div rather than opening inline and breaking the table?

Alex

Alex,

Something like Prototype windows

perhaps with a nice style? That’'s an interesting idea for sure.

Hi Bruce,

for me this looks more like XHTML games - I prefer a fast interface and don’'t want to wait more than 1 ms for a window to open or to close.

That’‘s one of the reasons I usually don’'t use the spell checker any more.

LG

LG,

I understand. My thought is that the popup ‘‘window’’ wouldn’'t be a normal

browser window but rather a javascript driven ‘‘window’’ - we would

basically show it immediately when the user clicked on the link - no

delay. I think it would basically be instantaneous.

I understand your desire for speed - we’'ve already made improvements

(some substantial, some smaller) in that area based largely on the

feedback we’'ve received from you and others in this community. We do

appreciate the feedback!

Hi Bruce,

I don’‘t need a border around the window and I don’'t need the basic menu bar like “File, …, View->Source, … Help” but sometimes this is really useful. For the History window this DHTML mode is fine, but if you want to move it around or minimize it to take a look at the post you may fail to do so. Actually for me using Firefox it is not possible to move it.
