in failover or clustered szenarios you will definitly need the feature to have the connection manager retrying to establish the connection to the wildfire servers if they are going off for a while. it should be possible to set the amounts of retries or try forever.
it would be nice, to have that feature in one of the next cm releases.

CMs will try to connect again to the server when a user connects to the CM or when a connected user sends a packet to the server through the CM. In other words, the reconnect is on-demand. The CM will keep trying to connect (on-demand) all the time until it is stopped.
Let me know if the current behavior is not fulfilling your requirements.
