Are you looking for any free XMPP server or specifically a free Jive Messenger server?

I am not aware of a public jive server, but there may be one running at jivesoftware.com.

BTW you can install Jive Messenger out of the box in about 10 minutes if you want to give it a go. That way you can also see the powerful administration features!

Well, inbaund registration is free and available at jivesoftware.com. I have an account there for Wednesday Jive Live chats.
