Ok I can see that the single connection would be good as far as bandwidth, and fewer points of origin, but it still doesn’‘t address the primary concern of masking the name of an internal corporate user. I would much rather prefer to have joe@google.com versus joe@myservername.mycompanyname.com. I guess if that isn’‘t a good thought then Google will never be a service that we’'ll use… bummer.

Ok, I have heard enough interest in this that I’‘ve created an issue for it. GATE-74 I don’‘t know when I will get around to implementing it, but none-the-less, it’'s “on the list” now.
If you could just forward all packet extensions (and maybe IQs) as-is to the jabber client, it’‘d be much easier to implement that gateway… dunno if that’'s possible with Smack, though.
=) Well doing it the way I plan on doing it will be very easy too. (assuming smack doesn’'t have some weird “i must really be a gui client” restrictions, which i doubt)
