Help install in ubuntu

Iv been working for hours and hours to get openfire running in ubuntu. Iv gone through every blog and forum. I done every thing i can think of, when i run it, it says it starts, but not window pops up like in windows. is there another way to get to the admin site? i JUST started using ubuntu yesterday, i am a NOOB, please be discriptive. thanks

Well not sure about windows popping up after install but have you tried opening a browser and going to the following URL?

http://localhost:9090/

thanks, but i get a page that says cannont connect

Hi,

I wonder why you are using Ubuntu if you don’t know how to use it. You may want to ask in some Linux forums for help about starting processes, verifying that they are running, how to monitor which ports are used and how to disable the firewall.
