How does Openfire deal with it's external database being shutdown for backup?

We’re going to be running Openfire on RHEL 5 with an external databsae running on a Microsoft SQL 2005 server. To back the database up I believe that they will need to shut it down for a bit to take the back up, how will Openfire deal with that?

Is there a better way to get the database on a MSSQL server backed up?

Hi,

you may want to ask MS support for a backup how-to. Openfire needs the database to store things in it so you better shutdown Openfire before you shutdown your database.

Anyhow I assume that also MS has a backup mode which does not require a database shutdown.
