Howto use SequenceManager?

The class org.jivesoftware.database.SequenceManager provides a sequences of unique ID’s that get stored in the database. But if you want to use this class you have to provide an ID Type (or JiveID). Is there anywhere a policy documented how to register such a unique ID type?

I don’t want to guess such a ID for my plugin randomly because of possible conflicts.

Any link or help is appreciated.
