iChat - Adding group chats to contact list?

Using iChat in OS X 10.4.2 with Jive 2.2.2

Jive is configured with a persistent group chat that broadcasts its presence. When I first logged into the server with iChat, the group chat appeared in my contact list. However, it is greyed out and says ‘‘Waiting for Authorization’’ underneath it.

I can join the chat room by explicitly telling iChat to ‘‘Go To Chat’’, and it works great.

My question is two-fold:

  1. Does it make sense to list a persistent chat on the contact list?

  2. If #1 is yes, should Jive then auto-authorize that action? I did not see a way in the server admin to manually authorize it.

Doesnt these questions should be addressed to iChat developers? For example Exodus doesnt show persistent rooms in Roster, but you can add it as a bookmark which doesnt have any common contact properties as status, presence etc. This is just a link to chat room. I dont see any sense in showing rooms in list as contacts, showing presence or authorizing to chat room, because it’‘s not a user it’'s just a place.
