I was curious how I would go about installing Openfire on a PC rather than a server? The company I work for uses a P2P network rather client/server. The VP’s want a chat client they can use(not sure why email isn’t good enough). We have several location totalling but only 4-8 people will be using this. If I install Openfire on a PC, open up ports 5222/5223 and forward them to the PC will they all be able to connect and chat without any issues? Well major issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It doesn’t matter whether you use dedicated server or PC (say laptop), and Openfire will run on various operating systems, like Ubuntu or Windows Xp/Vista/7 (probably 8 too). So, yes, in theory this should work.
