Invalid username/password

I am running OpenFire 4.0.1 on 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, the host firewall is turned off. I am running Spark 2.7.7. Using embedded database, user is created, I verified server is listening on port 5222.

But I can’t successfully authenticate to the server using the Spark client. Error message is Login Error; Invalid username or password.

I’m having a terrible time making OpenFire and Spark work for me. I was expecting a straight-forward install on both client and server followed by some quick and easy testing. I’ve tried running the server on Ubunutu 14.04LTS, Windows 2012 R2, and now on Win 7 Pro. I’ve installed the server into C:\OpenFire to account for any UAC problems.

Anyone else having this same issue?

Next challenge will be figuring out what my LDAP connection string is to integrate OF with AD.

TIA,

Jon

What are you putting as a server in the Spark login dialog? Is this name resolvable in the network (by DNS)? If not, you can go to the Advanced Spark’s settings on the login screen and put server’s IP in the host field. Server field on the login screen should be filled with Openfire server’s domain name (the name you specified during its setup), which doesn’t have to be the same as the hostname of the server you have installed it on.
