We use Swyx (non-OpenSource) as a PBX and i just asked myself if it is possible to use the softphoneplugin as an statusindicator that changes presence to dialing/talking to… whatever. This could also be useful for people that are using skype or other clients… Does the sip-server tell the second sip client what the first client is doing?
Another idea is an hotkey that triggers a speeddial in the sofphone-plugin. Our Swyxclient use f11 and quickdials the marked number in any application.
