Is openfire the right software to scale beyond a couple of thousand concurrent connections?
If I refer myself to this post Comparison between Tigase, Openfire and any other open-source XMPP servers - Stack Overflow
it says I should avoide openfire for hish scale websites, is this true?
This post says that tigase is capable of scaling high compare to openfire,
can someone duide me,
if you really need to scale in the region of many thousand concurrent connections you should not blindly trust some third opinion. You can have a look here http://www.igniterealtime.org/about/OpenfireScalability.pdf for Openfire scalibilty and by any means do your own tests before rolling out whatever you choose. Scalabilty is more than throwing the right software at it, you have to evaluate your hardware, network, OS and the surrounding services (Database, DNS, Filesystem etc.) carefully.
Thanks a lot,
I will check this out.
The reason also I was wondering is tha tjava programming language should be slowlyer then erlang also,
