Is there a way to block certain users on your contact list from seeing you as ‘online’?

Is there a way to block certain users on your contact list from seeing you as ‘online’?

I am curious about this as well.

Sorry for bringing up the old thread.

Even I am in need of such requirement. I have found from this forum that I should use privacy list. But I dont find a proper link/tutorial which explains how to do it.

I am implementing an xmpp client in javascript (which connects to the Openfire server). Can somebody explain/throw some pointers on how I can achieve it.

Thanks in advance,

  • Prasad

Yes, it is a supported feauture in Spark 2.6.0RC2. Grab a nightly build

Thanks for your reply, Walter!

I am implementing my own XMPP client in javascript. I’ve read that Openfire supports blocking users with the help of privacy list. I want to know how I can use these privacy lists in the following usecases :

  1. Block a friend
  2. Unblock a friend
  3. Get the list of blocked users
What sort of messages should be sent to Openfire to achieve the above actions? Can you give me an example of the message format or a link which helps do it on my own.

Thanks,

  • Prasad
