Is there difference between Jive messenger and wildfire?

hi…

pardon me for this silly question…but still i would like to know ,isnt wildfire the latest version of jive messenger??

isnt wildfire just the server side software??

if i install wildfire alone will i able to chat with other users??

if i need to perform chat between two users dont i need to install a client side software like spark,smack or exodus??

Yes. Messenger was renamed to Wildfire when version 2.4.0 was released.

Yes.

Mostly yes. Since Wildfire is server side software you’'ll also need a client that users can use to communicate with each other.

Yes for Spark and Exodus; I would of course recommend Spark. Smack isn’'t a client, rather it is a XMPP/Jabber Java API used for developing client side applications.
