LDAP and local groups - best options?

I have a question about the best configuration to complete the following task

We have a local Openfire deployment with LDAP integration (works great). We have been requested to add users outside our local AD domain to the shared roster of all users.

Our current configuration: one server with groups and users via LDAP. Version 3.4.5 and Spark client

This is what I tried so far. I added a second server with local users and groups, I’ve configured S2S and I can chat between the two servers. I cannot figure out how to add the second servers user or group to the first server’s group. Or create a new group on the first server. Each time I add a new group on the LDAP enabled server, it errors with the following below.

Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.

I do not think what you are trying to do is actually possible, if I understand correctly. I have been able to pull the entire roster and groups for my ID to another server using S2S and the XMPP gateway, but that requires an account on both servers.
