LDAP failover - does it exist? is it possible?

We recently had our primary LDAP blowup. This is not a huge problem as there is a backup available. However, I had to edit openfire.xml and restart the server to change the LDAP to the backup.

Is this possible? If not, how hard would it be to implement an LDAP failover so I could configure 2 separate servers with identical configuration?

It already does. Not documented well, I know, but just put multiple server hosts separated by spaces in your config.
