I had no groupprovider in my wildfire.xml. I don’‘t think I ever had that statement in in the configuration and to tell you the truth I don’'t know what it means.

Let me explain it then.

The internal architecture of Wildfire has a generic “provider” interface that can be built upon to allow external data sources to provide Authentication, User, and Group information to the server. The LdapGroupProvider is such a provider – it acts sort of as a plug-in to tell Wildfire to use LDAP for group lookups. If you don’'t specify that you want to use the LdapGroupProvider, the DefaultGroupProvider is used, which uses the database tables from the Wildfire database to manage groups.
