Well, don’t know what is causing it for you then. For me it fixed all the issues on Ubuntu/Xubuntu. Opens both files and folders now.
Oh, i forgot your report was about the URLs. Was only testing file transfers, which did improve. Reopened the ticket.
OK. Let me know what you want me to test. Also, when trying opening a file after a file transfer, I get this in the log:

Well. Don’t have anything to test for now. Unless Alexander (author of a previous patch) will come up with something. I see the same error in my log too. But it doesn’t stop me from opening files and URLs.
Wonder if this is still an issue (https://issues.igniterealtime.org/browse/SPARK-1699 ) in the current version. Alexander has fixed links in KDE, maybe this also fixes other issues. Should be tested with 2.8.1.
