Is it possible to use jabber in a live chat environment. We server multiple clients for whom we would like to create a webchat interface where they can provide some information and login and chat as a user.

XMPP is just perfect for what you are describing. If you are looking for a solution that includes web clients looking for support (including routing of questions to the best agent and queues or incoming requests) then you may want to look at Fastpath that is included in the Enterprise edition. However, if you just need a web interface to chat in a room then you can use our web client that is free. Moreover, if you need a complete web based client then you may want to give a try to our Sparkweb product included in the Enterprise edition.
