Migrating Openfire installation to a new machine

All,

I need migrate the Openfire server I am running to another machine. Is there any documentation on how to do this?

I currently only have about 50 users, so I could simply re-install, but I would rather not re-enter all their user and group information if possible.

Please provide some more information please:

  • Server OS

  • What database (embedded or external)

  • Version of Openfire

Server OS: Win XP Pro SP2

Database: Embedded

Openfire Version: 3.4.2

If you plan on keeping the configuration the same, you can do a backup of the entire openfire directory. Then install the same version on the new machine. The over-right the openfire directory with the backup version. do your backup with openfire service stopped.
