Move Openfire to another server

I have been running Openfire on a Windows 7 laptop with much success. As our implementation grows, I would like to move it to a Windows 2003 server (still using the Openfire embedded database). How would I go about this?

Hi,

do you want to use a new IP address (and change the DNS record) or a new xmpp.domain name?

In the first case you may want to install Openfire on w2003, change DNS and make sure that stopping, starting and login do work as expected (while the users are still missing). Then stop Openfire and copy the embedded-db folder from XP to 2003.

Thanks. Is there a way to change the default port for the Admin console? Symantec uses 9090 on my server.

Hi,

edit conf/openfire.xml and change there the port.

Two more thingsā€¦need to make my account an admin (locked myself out somehow) and also need to expand the DN search (to a specific OU in addition to what I have configured already)

see http://www.igniterealtime.org/community/docs/DOC-2062

For the AD question you may want to create a new thread or search the forum.
