[MOVE TO GATEWAYPLUGIN] Openfire vs. Miranda

Hi,

im a proud owner of a new openfire server (3.5.0) and i have some weird problems:

If i use Pidgin with the xmmp protocol to connect to the server everything works fine (icq transport and jabber) BUT i want to use miranda because in my oppinion its more comfortable. The strange behavior is that miranda does not notice that there are new messages - sending works sometimes but the presence of my buddies is not recognized very often.

I tried every setting (ssl off/on) both ports 5222/5223 different other settings, but i does not work with miranda.

To exclude that something is wrong with my miranda - i registered a new account at jabber.org and i worked from the beginning…

So whats wrong?

Some parts from the log:

Miranda didnt recognized the message via ICQ Transport nor the message via jabber - pidgin does.

So my question is: Miranda´s fault or openfire (maybe missconfigured)

Thx 4 Help!

Hey, where do you see the Views counter?

I havent tried Miranda for a very long time. It should be more xmpp standard compliant now, but long time ago it wasnt. So, maybe there still are some problems. I’ve seen another thread here about Miranda not able to see whos online. But as you said, it works with jabber.org, so should be working with openfire. Are you using shared groups? Or just add contacts to your roster yourself?

Oh, i’ve remembered where the Views are

Hi wr00t!

miranda is more jabber complient than pidgin (no priority / service disco / problem with muc …)- i do not get where this strange behavior come from… it must be openfire / my config. some hints what i can change?

I have some buddies added directly because they are registered on the server and lots more through the icq-gateway - they are all loaded when i start miranda - until then it works fine. But then the presence is not detected and i cant recieve messages, sending works sometimes.

thx 4 your help!

K.

okay i have a reduced the problem to the gateway plugin so can anyone move this thread to the gateway plugin support ?

As addition - i can message to every jabber contact - only the icq contacts do the problems… no message is recieved / can be delivered!

Any suggestions?

Thx 4 Help!

Well, I tested few clients and most of them are really dissapointing, but the problem is that jabber in miranda is somehow bugged. If you try to run any gateway (irc, icq) it will work but veryy bugged. And in the most cases it will stop openfire server from responding. Dunno why, but it’s like that.

With other clients it’s working as it should be, so the problem is in miranda plugin. Report a bug to miranda.http://bugs.miranda-im.org/login.php

it’s only with openfire Gateway plugin

with external transports everything works great

for example with pyicq-t, mrim and pyirc-t

Oh thats an great idea but not very comfortable for me…

I hope that a mod moves this thread to the gateway plugin support forum and i get help there!!!

try this plugin for miranda:

http://nullbie.miranda.im/files/jabber.7687.zip

this is a fixed one
