Not signing into MSN and cannot add contact

Loaded Wildfire 3.2.2 and Beta 7 of IM Gateway. Spark client is 2.0.7

Attempted to sign in and cannot from client, though server can establish a connection to 1863 for MSN. Can’'t find any errors to describe why.

When I attempt to add an MSN contact I get the following in the Spark logs:

SEVERE: Unable to add new entry brian.bear\40jockey.com@msn.inside.jockey.com

Any ideas as to what I am missing here?

Hello all,

I have experienced problems signing into MSN through Spark and the IM gateway today. I have found that MSN has issued an update to their live messenger and does not allow users to log in until you log in through MSN messenger and update the software. Once this update was run and MSN messenger was closed and Spark was re-opened the gateway was available again.

Hope this helps you.

Regards,

Matt S.

That stack trace looks like it came from Spark instead of the plugin/Wildfire.

If you go into the admin console and open the “Tests” tab for MSN and try the test, does it succeed?

That’‘s… odd. I haven’'t run into that myself.

Arg, thanks for pointing that out! I just adjusted the java-jml code to respond with a newer version so this should be taken care of. Going to try to get an “emergency update” out today, but the guy who works with me getting that set up is awol at the moment.

Yes this was from the Spark client. When I test the connection from the server it does connect. I had run into problems with Live messenger using Bluecoat proxies, I was hoping that wouldn’'t affect Wildfire though. I will try the new code release and see if that helps.

Thanks!

For what it’‘s worth, I found out yesterday (and based off what another person in this thread said) that MSN changed some minimum version requirements. As a result I’'ve had to patch the plugin to compensate. I will be putting out a release “asap”, ideally today, to fix this.

Glad I could help.

Regards,

MS

I can successfully sign into messenger using live or 7.5 from the server console. Still no success from the Spark client.

Here is the data from the Debug log on Wildfire:

2007.02.27 08:00:03 Received iq packet:

You will need to update to 1.0 Beta 8 before I can continue debugging this. (and it may fix it) MSN change some min version requirement on me and Beta 8 fixes it.
