OF3.7.0 AD/LDAP with more than 1000 users

I see confliciting items in message boards regarding the following, so i’ll just ask again. I am very new to OpenFire.

  • Is openfire able to see more than 1000 users/groups in AD?

  • my groups are in the same OU level as Users OU, can i specify two OUs instead of a base OU that contains a bunch of junk i dont need?

  • Why do I need the AD groups? I want to grant specific AD users access, and push out custom address books, is this possible without AD groups?
