I’m facing this issue too.
My environment is different, but the bahavior is the same.
I’m running Openfire 3.10.0 on a Ubuntu Server 12.04.
It happens many times a day and I must kill the process and start the service again.

We recently updated to Openfire 3.10.2 and we are still hitting the high cpu usage. This time I see a lot of logs (not sure is it connected) :

Whenever I tried to play any game on my pc, I was facing the same high CPU usage problem. Searched a lot and found that problem may be cause by svchost.exe (netsvcs). Here: http://errorcodespro.com/fix-svchost-exe-netsvcs-high-cpu-memory-usage/ take a look at it. Hope it would be helpful
