[Openfire 3.10.2][Mac OS X 10.10.5] Cannot start service

I just installed Openfire 3.10.2 using the pkg from the downloaded dmg file on my Mac OS X 10.10.5 machine. I cannot seem to start the service. After installing, these are the steps I take:

  1. Open System Preferences
  2. Click the Openfire preference pane (it asks to quit and reopen System Preferences, I accept)
  3. Click “Start Openfire”
  4. Enter admin password

Things will spin for a few seconds and then end. The pref pane goes back to the state it was in before: service is “Stopped”

Please advise.
