Openfire 3.6.3 ->?

I’m not sure if I’m the only one lately wondering does the Openfire developers have any plans to release new version any time soon? Same goes for Spark. Is there a page some where where I could see what’s happening behind the scenes?

What I’m waiting is especially the ability to allow users to log in with their Active Directory account using the UPN format. We have settled for .@domain.com type of approach, but currently this does not seem to work with Openfire+Spark combination. Also Spark has a really annoying bug that causes it to lose avatars of accounts that are currently online every once in awhile. I’ve been waiting for some time now for these to be addressed, but nothing seems to be happening

They should be planning to release a quick hotfix for a security hole described here http://www.igniterealtime.org/community/thread/38104?start=0&tstart=0 but… they are too exited about their new commercial product. So far only the community patch is provided. We dont know when do they plan to release new version or do they plan at all.

As about Spark, it has been abandoned by Jive long time ago. For some time Winsrev tried to look after it. Currently cstux is doing a lot of fixes and changes, but there is no releases. You can get all changes via svn and compile them yourself. Usually he posts about his work in http://www.igniterealtime.org/community/groups/contributors

Are you talking about Single Sign On option? Dont know what is UPN, but SSO is already available in the latest version (or beta at least). There are some threads and documents describing this (Todd Getz and slushpuppie can tell more on that topic).

I dont remember such a bug with avatars filed in JIRA. I think this should be tested against the latest code and then it can be filed.

New issues are still added, but there’s not too much activity / resolved issues currently. Do you see exceptions in the log files of Spark when it looses the avatar?
