Where can I download this older version? Find it quite stable than the newer releases.

probably not, that is very old now (somebody may have a link or download someplace).

what problems have you encountered with recent releases?

If you find it quite stable, doesn’t that presume, that you already have the version, because otherwise you couldn’t know that it’s stable!?

I don’t know a download link, but there’s a tag in svn. Maybe you can check it out and build the sources yourself.
