Openfire 401 upgrade, cannot login to admin page, getting an NPE

The error is below. Not sure what the issue is.

Running on Ubuntu. Any idea what is going on here. I did the setup mode reset, so I could at least get to the setup page, but going through the process, and then trying to login again, it still didn’t work.

Have you stopped Openfire before upgrading? If it was running during the process, this might be the cause. You can go to Openfire installation folder and check if files in /lib/ folder have the same modification date (should be 2016.01.26). You can probably try uninstalling Openfire and then installing 4.0.1 again.

don’t update the new admin folder under plugins with the old version.
