Openfire Chat Chrome Extension

in reply to my previous post i just want to let you know that with chrome v. 19.0.1084.46 m and OfChat 0.0.0.7 (no websockets!) everything is working very well. No disconnects as described before.

Keep up the good work!

Hey, i just want to let you know that i’ve published a blog article featuring OFChat and also a HowTo on using OFChat with Chrome. Both in german language. Just because i think it’s worth to spread the word about this fantastic plugin

Thank you. That was very kind of you

You may already know this, but OFChat does support MUCs, but you need the Client control plugin to setup the bookmarks. It also supports chat history with the OpenArchive plugin.

It is currently at version 0.9 which supports webrtc audio and audio/video calls

So, i decided to test ofChat again and it looks it won’t work with the current Chrome versions unless it is uploaded into Chrome shop… retarted Google policies…

Google changed the method to load extensions locally. You have to open the extensions web page chrome://extensions and drag the file on to the page.

Latest version is http://openfire-websockets.googlecode.com/files/ofchat-010.crx

thanks for the tip

I too am having a similar problem to the one above mentioned problem and i can only connect if i have Websocket check mark enabled, but then i cannot click the icon to list contacts etc. If i leave Websockets unchecked within the crome extension it seems to connect authenticate then disconnect in chrome sometimes i have access to the icon and contact things sometimes i do not. I have tried various combinations of enabling disableing the websockets plugin inside openfire as well as the below setting for http-binding

Script Syntax

If i go to http://mysite:7070/http-bind/ i get

,

HTTP ERROR: 404

Problem accessing /http-bind/. Reason:

Not Found

also note that the plugin defaults to ws and with the plugin enabled if i go to http://computerking.ca:7070/ws i get a directory listing with files and folders like a readme.html

,

not sure what is going on but i am really close now

I seem to have fixed things and websockets is sort of wor\king now, it logs in but i cannot see any contacts even if i seach for them example admin, also i cannot login to my admin console anymore http://mysite:9090 and i think might have to do with websokets because the icon blinks in chrome each time i try to login

ofChat keeps grey and unlickable after signed in

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. I use Openfire 3.8.2 alpha and ofchat-010 (withou websockets checked) and Chrome Version 28.0.1500.72 m

  2. I can sign in (click on green dropped up circle) but ofChat than only shows grey circle and keeps grey circle but nothing clickable there

  3. on server side i can see “only” any anonymous session for my ip (without websockets), altough i logged in via my ldap user i also use with spark sucessfull.

I have no “+” or any roster and if i click user profile nothing happens.

I see my ip in seesions list on server as Autehticated, but it does not now my user because its says “Anonymous”, what i strange as this work with spatl without problems.

Anonymous 452d980a Local Authenticated Online

Anonymous Login is allowed on server, however users authenticate against ldap and i logged in in ofchat with my ldap account i reagilary use with spark sucessfully.

Please help!

Update 1

I check use websockets an use http://myserver.loc:7070/ws" now its the same result but the server sessions shows

4
myldapuser
ofchat
Local
Authentifiziert

Online
Online
0
172.16.104.134

Still have only a grey circle but nothing else, also i i click on it with left or right mouse …

Update 2

I got it “more” working but onny with websockets on http://myserver.loc:7070/ws/ and without ssl (https://myserver.loc:7443/ws/ ssl self signed doesn’t work to connect )

Now i can see rooms and search users, also change status and see perfences.

The last but discusting problem i have is that the ofchat is disconnecting and reconnecting every about 10 seoncds …

Please help!

I have the same problem with websockets on http / port 7070, see last post in this thread. Did you solve this?

I don’t understand. Do i habe to make the uri base64 or the whole image? Where to i put this data then. There is no filed in ofchat user perfernces. Why doesn this plugin not use users existing image?

Is there any javascript API to write messages? For example I clicked SEND MESSAGE to user USER and type the message and send it via this plugin

I got it working

I setup as the instructions that Dele said, with no WebSockets, and /http-bind/ at the end of the address. The trick is to enter the full username, which usually is username@openfireserver
