I spent time looking for an installation doc and really haven’t found anything.
I found an install doc on the wiki ( http://wiki.contribs.org/Openfire ) and started following it till I got to the section “Access MySQL from the local
network”. It directs me to run some /sbin/e-smith/ stuff. We are running CentOS 5.4 but do not have any “e-smith” or “SME Server” installed. Are these required, or are these instructions just out of date?
What we are doing is spinning up a new instance of Openfire/Spark to replace our current outdated version. I want to get this one up, running, tested, and ready for a cut over early Q1.
Here is what I have done so far;
Operating System: CentOS release 5.4 (Final)
Installed Openfire: rpm -ivh openfire-3.6.4-1.i386.rpm
Installed MySQL: yum install mysql-server.x86_64
Configured MySQL and ran the /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation script
Basically followed the directions on the Wiki till I hit the e-smith stuff
I can launch the openfire web installer wizard, it comes up and starts.
Thanks!
