Openfire V4.2 Admin Password reset

Hello,

I am trying to reset admin password as I dont remember the old one.

I dont have a backup and the database is embedded db of openfire.

Please let me know how to reset the password

I am following steps below

  1. Stop Openfire
  2. Edit conf/openfire.xml and change <setup>false</setup>
  3. Start Openfire
  4. On Admin Password add new one.

Please let me know if all old information and content in the database will be lost?
or how should I proceed further on this for the reset.

If you can, upgrade to a later release and use the password reset functionality that was introduced in Openfire 4.3.1: How to Reset Admin Password on Openfire version 4.3.1+

Thank you for the suggestion, is it safe to upgrade from 4.2 to 4.3 without any issues or system break.

What would be the complication involved in it?

Also can you please share safe upgrade steps if possible.
