Is there anyway to allow for clients to send messages to computer accounts? We would like to be able to message who ever is at a computer. In the past we have used WinPopup to send to computers, but thats a old and dying method. Does anyone know of a transport or another way that would allow us to do this?

I’m not aware of anything off the top of my head, unfortunately. Seems like a fun project for someone though! Sun has something (event notification service) that is based on XMPP that they use for calendar notification events and such. There was even a proposed XEP at one point, but it was retracted. Sorry I don’t have something more concrete to suggest to you though.
Transport is Netbios.
Net send command should be used to send messages, messenger service should be active to receive messages.
WIndows XP SP2 have this service disabled. Vista computers have no more net send and ( business and higher version s) should use msg.exe and it will work only in domain.
