I just installed Jive Messenger on XP Pro using the embedded database and all is well. Assuming this fits the requirements of our origanization, I was going to load it on a stand alone server. Is there any requirements?
Will it run on Windows XP and anything after it? I was thinking on loading it on Windows 2000 Pro.
Also does the embedded database have any drawbacks? The end result would be us having about 80-100 people using it. Will this be a problem?

Assuming that you’'re using the Windows install package the only requirement is that you have the proper permission level to install software.

I have not run Messenger on any version of Windows other than XP but people have reported running it on Server 2003 and 2000 without problems. Of course, it’'s always a good idea to test any new system before putting it into production.

No, it shouldn’'t be. There is no strict hardware limit, but any system that can run Windows 2000/XP/2003 comfortably should be able to handle Messenger, the key is RAM, 256MB is probably a good starting point but 512MB would be better. Of course people have run with even less, the record is held by url=http://www.jivesoftware.org/forums/profile.jspa?userID=7315wroot[/url] running on a system with only 64MB but that was with Linux.
