Hi,

I have just introduced Spark to our school network and at the minute I am taking a lot of stick from staff as it is causing them problems. Can anyone solve any of the following problems:

  • Accessing spark away from the LAN - how do you set this up?

  • Spark is slowing down some peoples laptops - is this likely to be spark? if so how do you sort this?

I currently run Spark from the same server we run windows server 2003 on.

Can anyone help me?

  • Accessing spark away from the LAN

You need open port 5222 in the school router, find NAT option, and set internal external port 5222 and the internal IP the IP of your server.

Now to connect openfire, on your client application you need the external school router ip.

  • Spark is slowing down some peoples laptops

Open monitor process aplication (ctrl+alt+supr), sort by CPU and memory, and show whats happened on system.
