sorry, wasn’'t at home over the weekend.
Turns out that I set the pop3 config entries at the wrong place. I had set them in the systemproperties (web interface) but I should have set them in the config file directly.
(at least that’‘s what I’'ve been told so far. Another admin fixed it)
